Description

Calling all knitters, crochet-ers, and crafters! The University of Denver is seeking volunteers to assist with a campus yarn bombing installation.

What is yarn bombing, you ask? Yarn bombing is the process of applying often highly colorful, knitted or crocheted garments to physical objects in society. Part street art, part graffiti, yarn bombing is also referred to as guerrilla knitting, kniffiti, urban knitting, wool bombing, graffiti knitting, and yarnstorming.

This fall, members of the DU community near and far will work together to create a yarn bombing installation on campus in January 2024. We are calling on DU alumni, parents, and friends to contribute to this project by knitting or crocheting squares and flowers at home then mailing them to campus for students to incorporate into larger works.

If you would like to contribute, please following these instructions:

  1. Click the RESPOND button on the upper right corner of the screen.
  2. To complete your registration, click the SUBMIT OPPORTUNITY RESPONSE button. You will receive an automated sign-up confirmation email upon successful sign-up completion.
  3. Drop off the supplies on campus at the Anderson Academic Commons (2150 E Evans Ave, Denver, CO 80210), or mail them to Libby Catchings, DU Writing Program, AAC 282, 2150 E. Evans Avenue, Denver, CO 80210.

If you are interested in sharing your skills and crocheting or knitting with students on campus, please refer to the Knit or Crochet with the DU Guerilla Craft Society (In-Person) opportunity and sign up there. The group will meet on a weekly basis in order to assemble pieces for the campus installation.
