Description

Looking for a simple, meaningful way to stay connected to the University of Denver and support current students? The Dear Student Note Writing Project is an annual micro-volunteer opportunity that invites alumni and members of the broader DU community to share encouragement with first-year students during finals week.

Participants write a small set of handwritten notes that will be included in goodie bags distributed to students living on campus. These notes offer reassurance, perspective, and a reminder that a wider DU community is cheering them on.

What you’ll do

  • Write five short, handwritten notes for first-year DU students

  • Share words of encouragement, practical advice, or a supportive message from your own experience

  • Return the completed notes using the materials provided

We’ll mail you everything you need, including DU-branded notecards, message guidelines with examples, and a prepaid return envelope.

Why this matters
Finals week can be stressful, especially for students navigating their first year. A few thoughtful words from someone who cares about DU can make a real difference - helping students feel seen, supported, and connected to the larger university community.

You’re welcome to participate on your own or invite friends, family members, or fellow alumni to join you.

If you’re looking for an easy, personal way to support students and stay engaged with DU - this is it!
