Join the Chair of the Sustainability Council for a gardening opportunity with our partners at South Suburban Parks and Recreation. We'll be weeding and planting flowers, shrubbery, and trees in the South Platte Park. This volunteer project will allow DU to directly serve the community by ensuring this park is a beautiful and welcoming place for its human and non-human visitors. It will also provide critical habitat for pollinators of a wide variety, which provides value well beyond the confines of the park. It's a great opportunity to connect with Mother Nature by getting your hands in the dirt (gloved of course!).
What to expect:
- Gardening: weeding, tilling, planting, crawling on the ground
- Community: connect with members of the DU community, other volunteers for the South Suburban Parks and Recreation department, and your inner lover of all things green.
- Public Good: Directly give back to the Earth and the community by promoting a thriving ecosystem for animal and plant life.
What to bring:
- Water and snacks.
- Gardening gloves, if you have them.
- Closed-toe shoes with laces or work boots.
- A friendly smile.
