Volunteer: Mentor a CWC Leadership Scholar

Colorado Women’s College (CWC) Leadership Scholars serves undergraduate women at DU who are first-generation college students and/or from historically marginalized communities. They receive financial assistance and leadership programming to help them succeed during their time at DU.

We are seeking caring individuals to connect and build relationships with scholars in the program. The mentor program is a year-long commitment that provides the mentor and mentee the flexibility to decide mutually on both the timing and the content of meetings.

Mentors will meet regularly with their mentees to:

Share information about their own educational journey, obstacles and challenges, and ways they have been able to navigate these challenges successfully. Explore and discuss different career paths, community engagement opportunities, and their “passion to purpose” aspirations. Assist with interview preparation, resume and cover letter review, and/or career mentoring. Facilitate community building and leadership development. Assist them with accessing and/or understanding how to use the resources at the University of Denver.

We ask that mentors make a commitment for one academic year and meet at least twice per quarter with their mentees.

Meetings can take place in person, virtually via Zoom, or on the phone, depending on your preference and schedule. Express interest and we will be in touch with more information and next steps!
