Josef Korbel School of International Studies

Who We Are

Under the leadership of Dean Fritz Mayer, Korbel students, faculty, and practitioners are building upon the School’s history of preparing students for careers of purpose, focusing on five great issues of our time: achieving environmental sustainability, building more inclusive economies, promoting human rights and social justice, meeting emerging security threats, and promoting democratic governance. And for each of these issues, the School is connecting globally to local, considering both how they play out around the world and in Colorado and Denver. The School’s first Alumni Council was established in 2006, though it ceased to exist in 2014 due to operational challenges and was unable to meet established goals and objectives. In 2020, the School is eager to reconstitute the Alumni Council to engage the more than 6,100 alumni in its global community. This team of Korbel alumni will share its wisdom and experiences in an advisory capacity, taking an active role t in shaping the strategic direction of the Alumni Council, the priorities for involvement, and the ways to engage alumni with the School and with each other.

What We Do

The mission of the Korbel Alumni Council is to reach, engage, and connect Korbel alumni and promote a more vibrant, thoughtful, and inclusive community that reflects the School’s commitment to addressing the world’s most pressing issues.
